THE STORY
One of the most original 997 RSRs in the world
What came in: A 2007 Porsche 997 RSR, one of around 35 built that year. It’s believed the car came to America as a spare, ready in case a team had a big crash with no time to repair. Porsche later sold it to a private collector in California, and it changed hands twice more before its current owner brought it to Orbit.
What we found: The engine data logger showed just 34 hours of running since new, less than three hours of driving a year. That makes it one of the nicest, most original 997 RSRs anywhere.
What we did: A full overhaul of the engine, gearbox and chassis, completed in our Riviera Beach shop to get the car ready for the HSR Classic 24 Hours of Daytona. Work like this is still work, but it’s the kind we really enjoy.
